Michael O'Hare ei saanut kenkää. Hän ei lähtenyt ovet paukkuen. Kyseessä oli molemminpuolinen päätös. JMS itse otti ensimmäisenä yhteyttä Michaeliin. Tarkoitus oli tuoda uutta ulottuvuutta tarinaan, ja antaa Michaelin kokeneena Broadway-näyttelijänä tehdä muita projekteja. Vaihdos ei ollut osa alkuperäistä suunnitelmaa 10 vuotta sitten, mutta JMS saa luonnollisesti tarinan edetessä uusia ideoita miten toteuttaa jotain paremmin. Tämä on yksi niistä.
Babylon 5:n viisivuotinen tarina ei ole suoranaisesti henkilöistä riippuvainen. Suuressa mittakaavassa kokonaisuus pysyy samana, vaikka jokaisella hahmolla on oma henkilökohtainen tarinansa lisäten yksityiskohtia ja erilaista lähestymistapaa kokonaisuuteen. Uusi komentaja, kommodori Sheridan, ei todellakaan ole Sinclair uudella nimellä. Hän on kokonaan uusi hahmo, tuoden oman lisänsä tarinaan.
Sinclairin hahmo ei hävinnyt minnekään. Sinclair on nyt suurlähettiläänä Minbarilla - ja hahmo nähdään vielä. Eli Sinclairia koskevat avoimet kysymykset saavat varmasti vastauksensa. But what if we did something unexpected? What if we took a chance, and tried a slightly different direction, and set Sinclair aside for a while?
